As many of you know, my family has been gone for nearly two weeks. We travelled down to Florida for the Church of God Convention and took a few days of vacation while we were there. On our first day of vacation, we went to the beach at St. Petersburg. We played, enjoyed the ocean. We felt the joy of the waves, the feeling of the water ebb and flow. And of course, we experience the burn of the Florida sun. As we played, the current drew us down the & away from our towels & cooler on the beach. The force of the tide removed us from where we had intended to be. Of course, we took corrective action. We had to walk back toward the target. We had a great time on the beach.
The next day the convention began. During our convention there were many take home thoughts. One that sticks out was a quote from Winston Churchill. He said, “To each there comes in their lifetime a special moment when they are figuratively tapped on the shoulder and offered the chance to do a very special thing, unique to them and fitted to their talents. What a tragedy if that moment finds them unprepared or unqualified for that which could have been their finest hour.”
Wow! We all want to be ready for that big opportunity that God has designed us for. It is our purpose. We were created for destiny! Are you allowing God to develop you? Are we intentionally drawing closer to Him? Or are you just allowing the tides of life to move you along whichever way and living life as it comes? We need to ensure we are moving toward our goal rather than being pulled along in the wrong direction by the tides of life. I pray each of us will be utilizing those growth opportunities, so when we come face to face with our personal mission, God will find us faithful to His calling.
Eph. 4:1 – “As a prisoner of the Lord then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received.”
